Planning Board "In Process"

Currently the Candor Planning Board has been given the assignment to go through the Town laws that are on the books and see if there are any that need to be updated. There are more than 25 laws currently on the books. These laws were passed from 1976 through 2008.

Certain aspects of the laws may need to be looked at after significant time has passed. Some of the older laws had the fee schedules incorporated in the laws and after 20 to 30 years the fees need to be reevaluated. In the more recent years the fee schedules have been done through motion and not as part of the law. When done as part of the law the original law must be rescinded and a new law passed to change the fee structure. In other cases, dollar values are built into the laws and what you could build for $2,000 when the law was written doesn’t speak for the intent of the law 20 years or even 10 years later.

The Town Board has asked that the Planning Board look at the laws to see if which laws fall into this situation and make recommendations to the Town Board for changes.
